You know your future deserves a strategy but you don't know where to start.
You've worked hard to build a good life. You've made the sensible decisions, kept showing up and taken care of the people who need you.
But life in your late 30s, 40s and 50s can look very different from what you imagined.
Maybe your career no longer fits. Maybe the cost of living has changed what feels possible. Maybe you're raising kids, helping your parents, navigating changes in your health or wondering how you're supposed to plan for a future that feels increasingly uncertain.
Or maybe you just want something different, and you're not quite sure what that looks like yet.
You can be capable, successful and grateful for what you have — and still want to rethink what comes next.
When there's so much happening around you, thinking about the future can feel overwhelming.
You don't need another person telling you to think positively, find your purpose or squeeze more productivity out of an already full life.
A few structured tools can help you make sense of the changes, explore your options and work out what you want to do next.
A different way to think about your future
I'll introduce you to the futures thinking toolkit I use in my work and everyday life, and show you how to put it into practice.
You'll learn a structured approach to thinking about the future, with practical tools to help you get started.
We'll look beyond today's immediate pressures and give you space to think about the years ahead. You'll explore the future you want to create, consider the changes that could shape it, and identify where you have choices, options and room to act.
A practical way to think about what comes next
You'll learn the See It. Shape It. Own It. method and put it to work on your own future.
SEE IT
Make sense of what's changing.
Step back from the noise of everyday life. Explore the changes happening around you and consider how they might affect the future you're working towards.
SHAPE IT
Get clearer on the future you want.
Give yourself permission to think beyond your current circumstances. Imagine what you want your life to look like in the years ahead, then explore the possibilities and choices that could help you move towards it.
OWN IT
Work out where your agency lies.
Take charge of your next steps. Identify what you can control, where you can have influence, what you might need to learn and what you can start doing now.
.
The aim is to stop feeling like the future is something that simply happens to you — and start seeing where you can shape it.
You'll walk about with something to work with and not just something to think about.
This is a working session, not an hour of motivational advice. You'll use the accompanying My Future, My Strategy workbook to start putting your thinking into practice.
By the end of the workshop, you'll have started to:
-
Picture your future: Explore what you want your life to look and feel like in 2032.
-
Spot what could change: Consider the shifts that could affect the future you're working towards.
-
Identify your agency: Separate what you can control, what you can influence and where you have choices.
-
Set your priorities: Identify areas that deserve your attention as you work towards your future vision.
-
Choose your next steps: Identify practical actions you can begin taking now.
You don't need a five-year plan before you arrive. You don't need to know exactly what you want.
Bring your curiosity, your real-life questions and a willingness to give your future a little attention.
This might be for you if…
🎟️ You're in your late 30s, 40s or 50s and wondering what the next chapter of your life should look like.
🎟️ You're questioning whether the career, lifestyle or goals you once worked towards still fit.
🎟️ You're juggling work, kids, ageing parents, money or other responsibilities — and your own future keeps getting pushed to the bottom of the list.
🎟️ You're worried about how changes in the economy, technology, society or the world might affect your family and your options.
🎟️ You're ready to make some changes, but you don't know where to start.
🎟️ You want to make more deliberate decisions instead of constantly reacting to whatever life throws at you.
🎟️ You want tools to help you work it out for yourself and you don't need someone to tell you how to live.
You don't have to be in the middle of a major life change to join us.
Sometimes the best time to think about your future is before circumstances force you to.
This isn't about fixing yourself.
You are not a personal development project that needs another productivity hack and you don't need to manifest your way into a better future.
Design Your Future Five uses futures thinking & strategic foresight tools to help you think differently about your life.
Futures thinking is about exploring possibilities, recognising early signs of change and preparing to make better decisions in an uncertain world.
It's used by large companies, military and governments to think about what might be coming and how they should prepare to respond. But these ways of thinking are useful for everyday people, too.
Your career, finances, family, health and future plans don't exist in isolation from the world around you. When that world changes, the choices available to you can change as well.
This workshop gives you a practical introduction to tools you can use in your own life — without needing a strategy degree, a corporate planning team or hours of spare time.
Hi, I'm Jacinta.
I'm a futures coach and strategic foresight practitioner. For around 15 years, I've worked with the kinds of questions that shape our futures: what's changing, what it could mean, and how we can make better decisions before our options narrow.
My background includes national security strategy, where thinking ahead, examining different possibilities and preparing for uncertainty aren't optional extras. They're part of the job.
I've also had to apply those ideas to my own life.
I've questioned the path I was on, navigated major changes and had to rethink what a good future looks like for me and my family.
That experience has shaped why I do this work.
I believe ordinary people deserve access to the tools that help organisations think about the future — because our lives are shaped by many of the same forces, but we don't always get the same resources to prepare.
FuturePivots exists to make those tools practical, accessible and useful in everyday life.
You don't need me to tell you what your future should look like. I'd rather help you build the skills to work that out for yourself.
